MUS 3552 - MUSIC HISTORY 1900 TO PRESENT

This course investigates the radical diversity of musical thought and practice from 1900 to today. Students will study modernism, serialism, experimentalism, minimalism, and global traditions that have shaped contemporary music. From Debussy and Stravinsky to Cage, Reich, and beyond, the course emphasizes stylistic plurality, cross-cultural exchange, and the impacts of literature, the plastic arts, and technology.
