A detailed study of Renaissance Europe from 1380 to 1530, with emphasis on Italy’s central role in propagating cultural change and in the international politics of the period. Three units on Renaissance Europe from its Origins to the Peace of Lodi (1380- 1454); Renaissance Europe from Lodi to the French Invasion (1454-94); and Renaissance Europe from the French Invasion to the Sack of Rome (1454-1530.) Includes in-depth coverage of the role of women. Lectures, readings, and discussion.
