ENGL 1010 - FRESHMAN COMPOSITION

3 Credit Hour(s)
Louisiana Common Course Number: CENL 1013, English Composition I

Required of all students who do not qualify for ENGL 1020  or ENGL 1027 . Instruction and practice in the basic principles of expository writing: the paragraph and the whole composition, the methods of development, the thesis, the outline and organization, the structure and style. Instruction in functional grammar, sentence structure, diction and spelling, punctuation and mechanics, in direct relation to the student’s writing. Prerequisite(s): English ACT score of 18 or above or an appropriate score on the Accuplacer exam or satisfactory completion of an appropriate developmental English course
