ENGL 5750 - INTRODUCTION TO CONTEMPORARY CRITICISM (Contemporary Criticism)

Preparation for advanced study in English, including bibliographic and critical skills. Instruction in bibliography centers on basic literary research resources and methods, and instruction in literary criticism centers on contemporary theoretical methods. Successful completion of the course will give students preliminary grounding in the theoretical discourse and research methods for the field of literary studies.

Prerequisite(s): ENGL 3000  and at least one of the following: ENGL 2107 , ENGL 2300 , ENGL 2310 , ENGL 2320 , ENGL 2917 , ENGL 2927 , ENGL 3010 , ENGL 3030 , ENGL 3100 , ENGL 3510 , ENGL 3520 , ENGL 3950  or ENGL 3960 ; Junior standing or permission of the department head
