An examination of the development of critical theories from classical times to the present, with an emphasis on the reading of the major texts; a study of the trends in twentieth century criticism and examples of their application.
Prerequisite(s): ENGL 3000 and at least one of the following: ENGL 2107 , ENGL 2300 , ENGL 2310 , ENGL 2320 , ENGL 2917 , ENGL 2927 , ENGL 3010 , ENGL 3030 , ENGL 3100 , ENGL 3510 , ENGL 3520 , ENGL 3950 or ENGL 3960 ; Junior standing or permission of the department head
