G General Education Requirement (GER). See the GER  section of this catalog for the list of courses that fulfill this requirement if no specific course is listed. Honors equivalents are acceptable for all GER courses.

Major course.

†† Major course. Requires a grade of “C” or higher in all courses in the major at the 3000 and 4000 level. Students are expected to take at least 6 hours in early literature from the following courses: ENGL 3010 , ENGL 3510 , ENGL 4350 , ENGL 4360 , ENGL 4550 , ENGL 4560 , ENGL 4570 , ENGL 4710 , ENGL 4720 .

1 Students must complete 12 hours in a single foreign language. 

2 A two-course sequence is required (see GER section of this catalog for options). If the two-course sequence is taken in the physical sciences, the additional three-hour course must be taken from the life sciences, and vice versa.

3 At least three hours of electives must be taken at the 4000 level.

4 English majors take ENGL 3000  instead of a GERM literature.

Students must take a 6-hour sequence in HIST 1010  or HIST 1017 , and HIST 1020  or HIST 1027 , or HIST 1070  and HIST 1080 , or HIST 2010  and HIST 2020 

Three hours must be selected from the following courses: ENGL 3510 , ENGL 3520 , ENGL 4870 .
