Sociology Minor

The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice awards a minor in Sociology. A minor represents an optional, secondary field of study for an undergraduate student; therefore, no student may declare a major and a minor in the same discipline.

A minor in Sociology will be awarded upon completion of eighteen semester hours, which must include the following:

SOC 1010 - INTRODUCTORY SOCIOLOGY
SOC 3100 - METHODS OF SOCIAL RESEARCH
SOC 4300 - THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL THEORY
SOC Electives from 3000- or 4000-level courses 9 Credit Hour(s)

Notes:

A student may gain credit in SOC 1010 by completing the CLEP Subject Examination in Introductory Sociology. Departmental examinations are offered in SOC 1010 and CJ 1010 .
