EDCI 3200 - FOUNDATIONS OF PK-5 MATHEMATICS EDUCATION 3 Credit Hour(s) [EDUC 320] This course includes the theoretical pedagogical foundations and current issues and perspectives of teaching early childhood and elementary mathematics with equity to diverse populations. This course, which provides a framework for the teaching of mathematics, includes practice articulating what students need to understand rather than be able to do in mathematics, investigation of productive and unproductive beliefs and practices in math, an introduction to inquiry-based constructivist teaching, and technology enhanced instruction.
Prerequisite(s): Admission to Teacher Candidacy, EDCI 2500 or EDCI 2510 and EDCI 2450 or EDCI 2460 Offered: Fall, Spring
Notes: Clinical practice required.
